Editorial Standards: How We Choose and Test
TREADMILLREVIEWS USA
Independent Buying Guide

Editorial Standards

How we choose the products we recommend, how we check what we say about them, and what we do when we get something wrong.

Who writes these guides

Treadmill Reviews USA is written by Shaheer Ali Khan, PhD, an exercise physiology and biomechanics specialist based in the United States (LinkedIn). His work focuses on treadmill performance evaluation, running biomechanics, exercise physiology and fitness equipment analysis. His testing looks at motor performance, belt stability, shock absorption, incline accuracy, running ergonomics, noise and long-term durability, so that readers can match a machine to their goals, training and budget. Every guide carries the date it was last checked.

Testing, and saying when we have not tested

Where a product has been tested hands-on, the guide says so and describes what was done. Where it has not, the guide says that plainly too. Many of our guides compare products on their published specifications, warranties and safety records rather than on hands-on testing, and they are labelled that way. We do not publish test results, measurements or customer-review figures that did not come from a real test or a named source. Where a guide shows a score out of five, it is our editorial score β€” our judgement of the product against the others in that guide β€” and it is labelled as ours.

How we choose products

  • Currently sold. A product has to be on sale under that name on the maker's site or a major retailer on the date we check it. Discontinued and renamed products are left out or labelled as used-market options.
  • Specifications cross-checked. A figure appears on a product card only when the maker (or a major retailer listing) and an independent source agree on it. When sources disagree, we leave the figure out and say that listings conflict rather than pick one.
  • Safety records checked. We check every brand against the US Consumer Product Safety Commission's recall database before listing a product, and we exclude products under a recall or a "stop using" warning.
  • Who it is for. Each pick says who should buy it and who should buy something else.

How the site makes money

We earn commissions when readers buy through some of our links, including as a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. Affiliate links are marked as sponsored. A commission never decides which products we list, how we rank them or what we say about them, and we do not accept payment for placement.

Health and safety topics

Our author is an exercise physiologist and strength and conditioning specialist, not a physician, physiotherapist or dietitian. Our guides give general information about equipment and training, not individual medical or coaching advice, and pages that touch on health say so. Anyone with a medical condition, injury or concern should talk to their doctor before starting a new exercise routine.

Corrections and updates

Prices, specifications and product ranges change. We revisit guides and update the date when we do. If you spot an outdated figure or a mistake, pleasecontact us and we will check it and correct the page.
