Can You Watch Netflix on a NordicTrack?

Yes, on most current touchscreen models, through iFIT itself. The catch is that it needs the priciest iFIT plan on top of your own Netflix account, the app list is short, and the old "privileged mode" route to anything else has been closed and breaks the terms you agreed to.

What this page is based on. On 20 October 2026 we read iFIT's equipment-membership page, its iFIT 2.0 release notes and its April 2026 feature update, NordicTrack's own iFIT pages, the iFIT Terms of Use (last updated 9 December 2025) and the warranty printed in two current NordicTrack manuals. We cross-checked what they say against iFIT's own answers on retailer question pages, independent reviews, and reporting on the 2021 privileged-mode change. We have not used the streaming apps on a NordicTrack ourselves. iFIT describes the feature as available on "select" machines without listing them, and its app line-up has changed twice in two years, so treat this as the position on that date and confirm it for your exact model before you pay for a plan. This page does not explain how to unlock or modify a console, and it will not.

Most people who type this question have just bought a NordicTrack, or are about to, and are looking at a large, sharp touchscreen that seems perfectly capable of showing a film. For years the honest answer was "not officially". That has changed: iFIT, the software company behind NordicTrack and ProForm, now puts Netflix, Prime Video and a few other apps on the screens of its touchscreen machines. But the way it does so — inside iFIT, on the top membership tier, with a short list of approved apps — is narrower than most buyers expect, and the unofficial workarounds that circulate online are a worse idea now than they ever were.

1. Can You Watch Netflix on a NordicTrack? The Short Answer

Yes, on most current NordicTrack touchscreen treadmills and incline trainers, if you pay for an iFIT Pro membership and have your own Netflix account.Netflix runs inside iFIT, alongside Prime Video, Spotify and, since April 2026 in the US, YouTube TV and iHeartRadio. Without a paid iFIT Pro membership the apps are not available, and you cannot add apps of your own choosing.

Three official sources line up on this. iFIT's equipment-membership page says its Pro plan, which it describes as made for NordicTrack, ProForm and Freemotion equipment with built-in touchscreens, includes access to "popular streaming apps on your embedded screen", with the footnote that individual services may need their own subscriptions. NordicTrack's March 2026 membership guide says the same of iFIT Pro. And iFIT's own representatives, answering shoppers' questions on Best Buy's listings for the T Series 10 and the Commercial 2450, say that third-party apps such as Netflix, Prime Video and Spotify can be used with a paid iFIT Pro membership and are unavailable without one.

Independent coverage agrees. Garage Gym Reviews, updated in June 2026, says you can stream Netflix and Prime Video on a NordicTrack touchscreen and recommends the Pro plan; Treadmill Review Guru's Commercial 1750 review says Netflix, Prime Video and Spotify are available with an iFIT subscription and that you cannot open them without signing in to iFIT first.

So the screen can show Netflix. What it cannot do is behave like a tablet: there is no app store of your choosing, no web browser, and no way to cast your phone to it. If that matters, the alternatives section below is the useful part of this page, and ourguide to whether iFIT is worth itis the place to decide whether the Pro membership earns its cost for you.

2. Which Streaming Apps iFIT Offers, and Which It Does Not

iFIT does not publish a single list of the apps on its equipment, so the list below is assembled from its own release notes and support answers, and checked against independent reviews. On 20 October 2026 it looked like this.

AppOn iFIT equipment?Where that comes from
NetflixYes, with iFIT Pro and your own Netflix planiFIT's retailer answers; Garage Gym Reviews; Treadmill Review Guru
Prime VideoYes, with iFIT Pro and your own Prime accountThe same sources
SpotifyYes, with iFIT ProiFIT's retailer answers; Treadmill Review Guru

YouTube (the free app)Not confirmedNot named in any iFIT source we found
Disney+, Hulu, Max, PeacockNot confirmedNot named in any iFIT source we found
Web browser, Plex, other appsNoOnly iFIT-approved apps are offered

Two points are easy to get wrong. YouTube TV is not YouTube. iFIT's April 2026 update added YouTube TV, Google's paid live-television service, for US members. That is a different product from the free YouTube app, and we found no iFIT source that says the free app is available. "Not confirmed" is not the same as "no". iFIT has added apps in stages, and a service missing from its published material may appear in a later update. If one particular service is the reason you are buying, ask iFIT Member Care to confirm it for your model before you order.

Whatever is on the list, you supply the subscription. iFIT's own footnotes say individual streaming services may require subscriptions to their services, and NordicTrack's iFIT page says third-party subscriptions are required for streaming services. iFIT Pro gets the app onto the screen; it does not give you Netflix.

How this came about

Built-in streaming is newer than most of the advice online. It arrived with iFIT 2.0, a redesigned console operating system that T3 and the fitness-news site Maybe.Yes.No both described in September 2024, when Netflix and Prime Video were in beta and a full release was planned for early 2025. iFIT's release notes for that update list "access to popular streaming services" among the new features. That is why a review or forum thread from before 2025 can say, correctly at the time, that a NordicTrack could not show Netflix.

3. Which NordicTrack Models and Consoles Can Stream

iFIT's release notes say the iFIT 2.0 update, and with it the streaming services, is available for "select" NordicTrack and ProForm treadmills, incline trainers, bikes, ellipticals, FreeStriders and rowers with a touchscreen 10 inches or larger, and they tell owners to contact iFIT Member Care to check whether a particular machine is compatible. iFIT does not publish the list. That gives a useful rule of thumb and a caveat.

The current range. All seven NordicTrack treadmills on sale in October 2026 have touchscreens of 10 inches or more: the T Series 10 and Commercial 1250 have 10-inch screens, the T Series 16, Commercial 1750 and X16 have 16-inch screens, and the Commercial 2450 and X24 have 24-inch screens, as ourNordicTrack range guidesets out. iFIT's representatives have confirmed streaming with iFIT Pro for the T Series 10, the Commercial 1250 and the Commercial 2450 on Best Buy's question pages, and independent reviewers report it on the 1750. A bigger screen is a better place to watch a film, but on current information it does not unlock more apps.

Recent models no longer sold new. Machines such as the X22i and X32i incline trainers and the older Commercial models with 14-inch to 32-inch screens meet the size condition. T3's reviewer used the Netflix and Prime Video beta on an X22i in 2024. If you own one of these, the apps should appear after the console has updated to iFIT 2.0, but "select" means a phone call to Member Care is the only way to be sure. Our X22i reviewcovers the rest of that machine.

Small-screen and older machines. A machine with a screen under 10 inches, such as the 7-inch EXP 7i, falls outside the size condition iFIT gives, and a console with a basic display, such as the five-inch display on the T 6.5 S, has no touchscreen to stream to. Machines from the generation that connected through an external iFIT Wi-Fi module lost iFIT support in April 2023, as ourguide to using a NordicTrack without iFITexplains, so they will not gain anything new.

The long view. iFIT's Terms of Use say that after the services change, iFIT is under no obligation to continue to support older versions of the services, "including older versions of software running on Products". In plain terms, the apps on a console today are not a promise about the same console in five years. A streaming feature is a reason to enjoy a NordicTrack, not a reason to pay extra for one.

4. Which iFIT Plan You Need, and What It Costs

You need iFIT Pro. iFIT sells two plans. iFIT Train is built for phones and tablets, and iFIT's own comparison does not list streaming apps among its features. iFIT Pro is the plan for equipment with a built-in touchscreen, and it is the one that includes the streaming apps, on-screen tracking and multiple user profiles. A free iFIT account, which NordicTrack says is required to activate the equipment, does not include them; iFIT's answer about the Commercial 2450 says third-party apps are unavailable without a paid membership.

The price. On 20 October 2026 iFIT's equipment-membership page listed iFIT Pro at $39 a month, the figure Garage Gym Reviews also gave in June 2026. NordicTrack's own guide says features and pricing may vary over time, and annual billing and promotional codes change the effective price, so check the current figure before you count on it. At $39 a month the plan costs $468 over a year before any annual discount, and that is before the Netflix or Prime subscription you also need.

What you are really paying for. If streaming is the only part of iFIT Pro you would use, it is an expensive way to watch Netflix: the same programs play on a tablet in a holder for the cost of the tablet. The membership is good value only if you also want the trainer-led workouts, the automatic speed and incline control and the multi-user profiles. Most new NordicTrack machines come with a trial or bundled membership period that renews automatically unless you cancel, so a trial is a good time to find out which of those you actually use.

When the membership ends. The streaming apps go with it. The treadmill keeps running in manual mode, as NordicTrack says it always will, but the screen loses the apps along with the class library. If you cancel, plan on a tablet for entertainment from then on.

5. How to Turn On Netflix on a NordicTrack

There is no hidden setting to switch on. The apps come with the console software and the membership, so the steps are mostly about making sure both are current. Exact menu names vary by model and software version; your manual and iFIT's help pages are the authority for your machine.

  • Connect the console to Wi-Fi. Streaming needs a reliable home network at the treadmill. A weak signal in a basement or garage is the most common reason for buffering.
  • Update the console software. Current NordicTrack manuals describe checking for firmware updates from the settings menu, under Maintenance. The apps arrived with iFIT 2.0, so a console that has not updated in a long time may not show them yet.
  • Sign in with an account on iFIT Pro. NordicTrack's membership guide says you can sign in on the machine or in the iFIT app, and that a membership may sync automatically once you sign in on the machine. If you have an activation code from a bundle, enter it in your iFIT account first.
  • Open the app from the console. iFIT 2.0 added a bar along the bottom of the screen for moving between apps, and iFIT's April 2026 post refers to an app list on the equipment screen from which apps are downloaded. Choose the streaming app there.
  • Sign in to the streaming service. Use your own Netflix or Prime login. T3 reported that once signed in, the accounts appeared across all the iFIT profiles on the machine, which is worth knowing in a shared household.

While you watch. iFIT's release notes say workout settings stay reachable from the bottom bar whichever app is open, and both T3 and Maybe.Yes.No describe workout statistics overlaid on the video. T3 also relayed iFIT's advice to stream rather than download content, because the machine's internal storage is needed for the operating system.

If the apps do not appear. Check, in order, that the membership on the account is Pro rather than Train or a free account, that you are signed in to the right account on the machine, that the console is online and fully updated, and then restart it. NordicTrack's guide gives the same order of checks for a membership that does not show on the machine. If the console freezes or will not respond, ourNordicTrack reset guidecovers the safe power-cycle and console reset. If none of that works, call iFIT Member Care and ask whether your model is one of the "select" machines.

Safety. Watching anything on a treadmill takes some of your attention off the belt. Clip on the safety key, keep the speed where you can hold your stride without looking down, and pause the belt rather than the film when you need to reach for the screen. Ourtreadmill safety tipscover the basics, especially for homes with children or pets.

6. What Does Not Work on a NordicTrack Screen

The limits are the part that most often disappoints people, so it is worth setting them out plainly.

  • No casting or screen mirroring. Asked whether a phone could be used to put Hulu, Netflix or Prime on the Commercial 2450, iFIT's representative answered that streaming from devices to the console is not currently available on that machine. We found no NordicTrack page that claims AirPlay, Chromecast or Miracast support on any current model.
  • No apps of your own. The console runs a version of Android, but iFIT offers only the apps it has approved. There is no general app store and no web browser, so services iFIT does not offer, such as Plex or a sports app, cannot be added officially.
  • No apps without iFIT Pro. A free account or iFIT Train does not unlock them, and they go when a Pro membership lapses.
  • No guarantee they stay. iFIT's Terms of Use say it may block or disable access to any third-party content through its services at any time, and that it may modify or discontinue all or part of its services. An app on the screen today is a feature, not a fixed part of the machine.
  • Not every service. Disney+, Hulu, Max, Peacock and the free YouTube app did not appear in any iFIT source we found on 20 October 2026.

Audio is the one area with more flexibility. The current consoles have built-in speakers, and many models pair Bluetooth headphones so that a film does not have to compete with the belt and the fan. Check the specific model's listing, because how Bluetooth audio is handled varies between consoles. Our guide toheadphones for treadmill runningcovers which kinds stay put at running pace.

7. The "Privileged Mode" Hack: What It Is and Why to Leave It Alone

Search for this subject and the most common suggestion is not iFIT's app list at all, but a way to unlock the console. It deserves a careful explanation, because the risks are real and the people recommending it rarely mention them.

What privileged mode is

A NordicTrack touchscreen is a small Android tablet built into the console. Privileged mode is a service mode that gives access to the underlying system. InsideHook, reporting the company's explanation in November 2021, said it exists so that customer-service staff can reach machines and troubleshoot them remotely when they malfunction, and that the company never meant it to be consumer-facing. For a time owners used it to install other apps — a browser, other streaming services — on the treadmill's screen.

iFIT blocked it, and keeps closing it

In fall 2021 an automatic software update blocked owner access to privileged mode on NordicTrack's machines. Reporting at the time, including Techdirt's and a Wired story summarized by The Week, described a wave of owner complaints, and a spokesperson for NordicTrack and iFIT said the block was installed because the company believes it "enhances security and safety while using fitness equipment that has multiple moving parts", adding that the company had never marketed its products as able to access other apps. Since then, owners have shared workarounds, iFIT's updates have closed them, and owners have looked for new ones. A July 2026 write-up by a developer who follows the subject describes the position as varying by firmware: some owners on older software report the old route still working, while on newer software the route, or the service menu itself, appears to have been changed or removed.

That pattern is the practical problem. Even if a workaround works on the day, the next automatic update can undo it, and owners who have tried to avoid that by keeping the console offline lose the iFIT updates, workouts and fixes that the machine is designed around.

What the terms and the warranty say

iFIT's Terms of Use. The terms (last updated 9 December 2025) apply to iFIT's products as well as its apps and websites. Section 5, Prohibited Conduct, says you will not reverse engineer any aspect of the services "or bypass or circumvent measures employed to prevent or limit access to any part of our Services", and will not use the services other than for their intended purpose. Section 3 notes that an account is required to operate iFIT's products, and Section 10 says that any use beyond what the terms authorize terminates the license they grant. Unlocking a console that iFIT has deliberately locked sits squarely inside those clauses.

The NordicTrack warranty. iFIT's terms say each product's warranty is the one described in its user's manual. The warranty printed in two current NordicTrack manuals we read, for the X32i incline trainer (2022) and the T Series 5 treadmill (2024), says it is automatically voided "if the product is modified to alter functionality or capability without the written permission of iFIT". We have not seen iFIT apply that clause to a software change, and a warranty claim depends on the facts, but a buyer who unlocks a console is giving iFIT a straightforward reason to refuse one. On a machine whose motor or frame carries a long warranty, that is a costly risk to take for a streaming app.

Safety. Privileged mode was built for servicing motorized equipment. Installing software iFIT has not tested onto the computer that controls a belt and an incline motor is a different thing from installing an app on a phone, which is the point iFIT's 2021 statement made. A console that crashes or misbehaves mid-run is a safety problem, not just an inconvenience.

For all of those reasons we do not explain how to unlock a NordicTrack console, and we would not do it on a machine we owned. If you want apps iFIT does not offer, the alternatives below get you there without putting the warranty or the console at risk.

8. Safer Ways to Watch What You Want

The simplest answer is usually the best one: let the treadmill be a treadmill and bring your own screen.

  • A tablet in a proper holder. A tablet runs every streaming app, including the ones iFIT does not offer, costs nothing extra each month, and can be replaced when it ages without touching the treadmill. The catch on a NordicTrack is placement, because the built-in screen occupies the obvious spot. A clamp-on holder on a handrail or upright, positioned so it does not cover the safety key or the controls, solves that. Ourtreadmill tablet holder guidelists holders with checked fit ranges and explains where to mount one so it stays steady at running pace.
  • A wall-mounted television. In a dedicated room, a TV at eye height in front of the treadmill is the most comfortable screen of all. It also leaves the console free for an iFIT workout, so you can follow a class's speed and incline while watching something else.
  • iFIT on the TV, if it is the classes you want there. iFIT has offered an iFIT TV channel on Roku for its workout library. That puts classes on a big screen; it does not put Netflix on the treadmill.
  • Audio only. If you mostly listen, iFIT Pro includes Spotify and iHeartRadio, and any phone in a holder or pocket plays podcasts and audiobooks through Bluetooth headphones.

ProForm works the same way

ProForm is NordicTrack's sister brand under iFIT and runs the same software, so everything on this page applies to a ProForm touchscreen too. iFIT's equipment page names ProForm among the machines iFIT Pro is made for, iFIT's release notes include ProForm in the iFIT 2.0 roll-out, and Garage Gym Reviews says Netflix and Prime Video now stream on ProForm treadmills with iFIT and a touchscreen. ProForm's own pages say a free iFIT account and agreement to terms are required to activate the equipment, and the same 10-inch screen condition applies. ProForm's cheaper models that use your own phone or tablet instead of a built-in screen are, in effect, already the tablet option. Our ProForm roundupcovers the current range.

9. How Bowflex, Sole, Peloton and Aviron Handle Streaming

If built-in streaming is high on your list, it helps to know that NordicTrack's approach — streaming inside the platform, on the top tier — is only one of several. These are the positions as our own reviews and the makers' pages describe them on 20 October 2026.

BrandStreaming on the screenMembership needed for it?
NordicTrack / ProForm (iFIT)Netflix, Prime Video, Spotify, YouTube TV (US), iHeartRadioYes, iFIT Pro
Bowflex (JRNY), e.g. T16Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube, Spotify and a web browser on the T16Bowflex says not for the T16; JRNY's terms vary by machine
Sole (SOLE+)Streaming apps on its Android touchscreens; screen mirroring on the 2026 F80 and F85No, SOLE+ is free
PelotonPeloton Entertainment: Disney+, YouTube, YouTube TV and othersYes, All-Access
AvironNetflix, Prime Video, Disney+, YouTube, SpotifyNo, Aviron says they stay without one

Bowflex. The T16's 16-inch screen is Bowflex's entertainment console: Bowflex lists JRNY, Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube, Spotify and a web browser among its built-in apps, and its FAQ says the T16 does not need a JRNY subscription to operate, with streaming apps using your own subscriptions. Bowflex's footnotes still say a separate subscription is required for connected apps, and JRNY's own page describes All-Access as the required subscription on most of its touchscreen machines, so check the terms for the exact model. OurBowflex T16 reviewsets out what is free and what is not.

Sole. Sole's approach is the opposite of iFIT's: SOLE+ is free and nothing on its treadmills needs a membership. Independent reviewers describe Netflix, Hulu and Disney+ on the 21.5-inch console of the F89, which ourSole F89 reviewnotes is no longer on Sole's US store. The 2026 F80 has a 10.1-inch touchscreen that Sole calls a streaming touchscreen, with screen mirroring, as ourSole F80 reviewdescribes.

Peloton. Peloton Entertainment puts streaming services on the Tread's screen, but Peloton says the All-Access Membership is required for it, as it is for the classes. Peloton's own Entertainment page, last updated in June 2025, names Disney+, YouTube, YouTube TV, AMC+, DIRECTV and a Kindle app; launch coverage in November 2023 also named Netflix, which Peloton's page does not list, so confirm Netflix if it is the one you want. Without the membership, Peloton's Just Run mode gives manual control and basic metrics, as our Peloton Tread guideexplains.

Aviron. Aviron is the most generous of the five on this point. Aviron says its treadmills keep their streaming apps, including Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, YouTube and Spotify, without the membership; the membership is for its games, classes and competitions. Our Aviron treadmill guidecovers the membership, and the condition that ties Aviron's longest warranty to it.

Two cautions apply to all of them. Each of these companies decides by software update what its screen does, and each has changed that before. And a built-in screen is usually the part of a treadmill that ages first, so weigh it below the motor, deck and warranty when you compare machines.

10. Recalls Worth Knowing About

We searched the US Consumer Product Safety Commission's recall listing on 20 October 2026 for each brand on this page. We found no recall of a NordicTrack or ProForm treadmill or incline trainer since a 2002 recall of ICON's NordicTrack and ProForm "hiker" machines. The most recent iFIT recall that bears on consoles is not a treadmill: in October 2025 iFIT recalled about 44,800 NordicTrack RW900 rowing machines (model NTRW19147) because the screen console can overheat and ignite, with a free in-home console replacement as the remedy. It is a reminder that a touchscreen console is an electrical device, and one more reason not to run untested software on one.

For the other brands: Peloton recalled the Tread+ (TR01) and the Tread (TR02) in May 2021, the latter because its touchscreen could detach and fall; our Peloton guide covers both remedies. Nautilus recalled two Nautilus-branded treadmills (T616 and T618) in 2022 because they could start on their own. We found no CPSC recall of a Sole or an Aviron treadmill. Check any model number, new or used, against the CPSC listing and the maker's recall page before you buy.

11. Frequently Asked Questions

Can you watch Netflix on a NordicTrack treadmill?

Yes, on most current touchscreen models, through iFIT. You need a paid iFIT Pro membership and your own Netflix account; iFIT says the feature is on select machines with touchscreens of 10 inches or larger. Without iFIT Pro the apps are unavailable, and you cannot install apps of your own.

Which streaming apps work on a NordicTrack screen?

On 20 October 2026, iFIT sources named Netflix, Prime Video and Spotify, plus YouTube TV for US members and iHeartRadio from the April 2026 update. We found no iFIT source naming the free YouTube app, Disney+, Hulu, Max or Peacock. There is no web browser. Ask iFIT Member Care if one service matters to you.

Do you need iFIT Pro to watch Netflix on a NordicTrack?

Yes. iFIT lists streaming apps as a feature of iFIT Pro, its plan for touchscreen equipment, and its representatives say third-party apps are unavailable without a paid membership. iFIT listed Pro at $39 a month on 20 October 2026. You also pay for the streaming service itself.

Can you cast or screen mirror a phone to a NordicTrack?

Not officially. Asked about the Commercial 2450, iFIT’s representative said streaming from devices to the console is not currently available, and we found no NordicTrack page claiming AirPlay or Chromecast support. A tablet in a holder or a wall-mounted TV is the practical alternative.

Is it safe to use privileged mode on a NordicTrack?

We advise against it. iFIT blocked owner access in 2021 for what it called security and safety reasons, and later updates have kept closing workarounds. iFIT’s Terms of Use prohibit bypassing access restrictions, and NordicTrack’s manual warranty is voided if the product is modified to alter functionality without iFIT’s written permission.

Can you watch Netflix on a ProForm treadmill?

Yes, on the same terms. ProForm runs the same iFIT software, iFIT Pro is made for ProForm touchscreens too, and independent reviewers report Netflix and Prime Video on ProForm machines with iFIT and a touchscreen. ProForm models that use your own phone or tablet instead of a built-in screen rely on that device.

Common Mistakes About Streaming on a NordicTrack

Most of these come from older advice, or from assuming the screen works like a tablet.

Paying for iFIT Pro only to watch Netflix

At $39 a month on iFIT’s listing, the Pro plan is an expensive way to reach apps that a tablet runs for nothing extra. It is good value if you also use the classes and automatic control; if you only want films, put the money into a tablet and a holder instead.

Expecting YouTube or Disney+ because Netflix is there

iFIT offers a short list of approved apps, not an app store. On 20 October 2026 we found no iFIT source naming the free YouTube app or Disney+, and YouTube TV, which iFIT did add, is a separate paid live-TV service. Confirm the service you want before you subscribe.

Unlocking the console to install other apps

Privileged-mode workarounds break iFIT’s Terms of Use, can be undone by the next update, and give iFIT a clear reason to refuse a warranty claim under the "modified to alter functionality" clause. The console also controls a motorized belt, which is a poor place to experiment.

Trusting a pre-2025 answer

Built-in streaming arrived with iFIT 2.0 in 2024 and 2025, and iFIT added YouTube TV in April 2026. Forum threads and reviews from before then can be accurate for their time and wrong now, in both directions. Check the date on any answer, including this one.

The Bottom Line

You can watch Netflix on a current NordicTrack touchscreen, but only inside iFIT, on the iFIT Pro plan, with your own Netflix account, and only from iFIT's short list of approved apps. There is no casting, no browser and no app store, and the privileged-mode workarounds break iFIT's terms and put the warranty at risk.

If iFIT Pro is worth it to you for the classes, the apps are a pleasant extra. If you only want something to watch, a tablet in a good holder does more for less. Ourtablet holder guideshows where to mount one on a console like NordicTrack's.
